Privacy Policy

Overview

GetBetterPrompts is a free website that helps you improve prompts for text, image, and video tools, and rewrite text for clarity with the Humanizer. You do not need an account. This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved when you use the site, how prompt content is handled, and what technical and analytics services we use.

We distinguish between: (1) the text you enter into our tools, (2) ordinary technical website data needed to deliver the site, (3) analytics data, (4) browser storage on your device, and (5) server or hosting logs.

Information you enter into the tools

Prompt improvement tools (text, image, and video) When you use the prompt-improvement tools, the structured prompt is generated in your browser using local rules. We do not send your prompt to an AI provider for transformation, and we do not store your prompts in a GetBetterPrompts database for later retrieval.

Before improvement runs, the tool may briefly send the text you entered to our own application server (POST /api/correct-text) for open-source spell checking (nspell with Hunspell dictionaries). That request is processed to return a corrected string. It is not used to train an AI model, and it is not shared with an AI provider. Hosting infrastructure may retain request logs for a limited time as part of normal server operations.

Humanizer The Humanizer rewrites text entirely in your browser. The text you paste and the rewritten result are not sent to GetBetterPrompts for transformation and are not sent to an AI provider.

Generated results and copied output Improved prompts and Humanizer results remain in your browser session unless you copy them, download them yourself, or temporarily place them in browser storage as described below. Copying text uses your device clipboard. We do not receive the clipboard contents.

Gallery copy counts When you copy a gallery prompt, the site may send only a public prompt identifier (not the prompt text) to our servers so we can count copies. That request may include ordinary technical request data such as IP address for rate limiting.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, when you visit GetBetterPrompts our hosting provider and certain third-party scripts may receive limited technical information, such as IP address, browser and device details, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed, referrer, and timestamps. This happens even if you never use a tool.

We do not intentionally include the content you enter into the prompt or Humanizer tools in analytics events.

Browser storage and cookies

Storage on your device may include:

• Theme preference (next-themes, typically localStorage key "theme"): light, dark, or system. Essential for display.
• Temporary prompt handoff (sessionStorage key getbetterprompts_redirect_prompt): may briefly hold prompt text when moving between pages or locales so the tool can continue. Cleared after use or when the tab session ends.
• PWA engagement counters (sessionStorage key gbp_pwa_engagement): remembers how often certain product actions (successful copy actions) have been completed in the session to decide whether to show an installation suggestion. Does not store the text of your prompts or copied results.
• PWA prompt-shown flag (sessionStorage key gbp_pwa_prompt_shown): remembers that the installation suggestion was already shown in this tab session so it does not appear again until a new session.
• PWA dismiss timestamp (localStorage key gbp_pwa_dismiss_ts): remembers that you dismissed the installation suggestion for about 30 days.
• PWA standalone open flag (sessionStorage key gbp_pwa_standalone_tracked): remembers that an analytics event for opening the installed app was already sent in this session (event name only; no prompt text).
• Analytics technologies operated by third parties may set their own cookies or similar storage, as described below.

GetBetterPrompts may use browser storage to remember how often certain product actions have been completed, whether an installation suggestion has been shown or dismissed, and whether the site is running as an installed app. This helps prevent the installation suggestion from appearing too frequently. These values do not contain the text of your prompts or copied results.

We do not keep a permanent prompt history on our servers. Clearing site data in your browser removes device-side storage we control.

Analytics

We use Umami Cloud (script from cloud.umami.is) for privacy-oriented website analytics. Umami may collect page views and technical visit data (for example URL path, referrer, browser/device information, and approximate location). Custom events we fire use event names only (for example PWA install funnel events). We do not intentionally include prompt text, Humanizer text, or generated output in those events.

Umami may use cookies or similar storage depending on its configuration. The analytics script currently loads for visitors without a separate cookie-consent banner. You can limit analytics by using browser tracking protection, content blockers, or similar tools.

Hosting and technical service providers

The website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes technical request data required to deliver pages and API responses. Fonts may be served via Next.js Google Fonts integration (Plus Jakarta Sans and Geist Mono).

Spell-check requests described above are handled by our application on that hosting infrastructure.

How information is used

We use information to: operate and secure the website; perform optional spell checking for prompt tools; measure aggregate traffic and product usage (for example page views and install-prompt events); count gallery prompt copies; and respond to contact emails you send us.

When information may be shared

We do not sell your prompt content. We share technical or analytics data with service providers that help us run the site (currently including Vercel and Umami) as needed for those services. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the service and users.

If you copy a prompt and paste it into a third-party AI tool, that tool receives the text from you under its own terms. Merely visiting GetBetterPrompts does not send your prompts to those AI tools.

Data retention

Prompt text sent for spell checking is not stored by us in an application database. Hosting logs may retain request metadata (and possibly request bodies) for a limited operational period controlled by the host. Analytics retention follows Umami's practices. Browser storage remains until you clear it or it expires as described above. Emails you send to us are retained as needed to respond.

International processing

Service providers may process data in the United States or other countries. If you access the site from another region, technical data may be transferred internationally as part of delivering the website and its services.

Security

We use HTTPS and standard hosting protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Avoid pasting highly sensitive personal data into any website tool.

Children's privacy

GetBetterPrompts is a general-audience site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for accounts (we do not offer accounts). We do not verify users' ages. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it from our correspondence records.

Your privacy choices and rights

You can: clear cookies and site storage in your browser; use tracking protection or blockers to limit analytics; and contact us about privacy questions.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because we do not maintain user accounts or a prompt history database, many requests will relate only to emails you sent us or to data held by analytics providers.

External links

The site may link to third-party websites and AI tools. Their privacy practices are their own. Our Referrer-Policy is set to strict-origin-when-cross-origin, which limits referrer detail sent to other sites but may still send the origin.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. The effective and last-updated dates appear on this page. Continued use after changes means you should review the updated policy.
